Douglas is a Litigation partner based in our Edinburgh office and heads several key teams within the firm.
Douglas heads our planning law team and acts on behalf of commercial clients as well as public sector bodies. Douglas also leads our fraud and commercial crime practice, and has a particular specialism in Proceeds of Crime legislation.
Douglas is a member of MFMac's Energy and Renewables Group. He has particular expertise, through having appeared at multiple public inquiries for renewable energy and other major infrastructure projects, of advising statutory consultees on issues as diverse as safeguarding national defence interests and considering the impact of development on the historic environment.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (the "Act") places a number of responsibilities on Scottish public bodies to take proactive steps to ensure the protection of children’s rights.
We acted recently for Historic Environment Scotland (HES) in the public inquiry into the Sheirdrim Renewable Energy Development in Argyll and Bute. Scottish Ministers issued their decision on 26 June 2023.
