Isabel is an Associate in the Planning & Environmental Law team.
Isabel specialises in all aspects of planning law, including negotiating and concluding planning agreements, due diligence, as well as providing strategic advice to both developers and Planning Authorities through the consenting process.
She also assists in providing specialist guidance on all aspects of environmental law including climate change, waste management and contaminated land and is a key member of our Energy team and our Environmental and Climate Change Unit.
Isabel is also a member of our Giving Something Back committee, which coordinates our charitable fundraising activities.
You may get a variety of responses when you announce that you study, or work, in law. It may be the classic joke of "Oh you'll help me with my legal problems then!", to perhaps even "How fancy!". At least, these are the replies I get most often!
It is becoming increasingly clear that buildings contribute significantly towards greenhouse gases and fuel costs; they account for 40% of annual CO2 emissions globally, and within the UK alone they account for 34% of total UK greenhouse emissions. Whilst the energy efficiency of Scotland's properties is improving, around 55% are still rated below the recommended EPC.
