Suzanne is a partner, based in Edinburgh and has been with the firm since she joined as a trainee over 20 years ago. She specialises in public sector development work, and has a breadth of experience across real estate, construction, public procurement & subsidy control matters.
She has particular expertise in public/private sector projects including those taken forward through joint ventures, RSL's and third sector organisations. She advises from project inception, advising on suitable procurement strategy, through to works completion.
She has given strategic advice in relation to affordable housing, economic development projects, education and health care facilities.
She also has significant experience acting for public sector clients providing funding packages through loans and grant assistance, primarily for property development. This includes grants issued by Historic Environment Scotland, the Rural Payments & Inspections Division of the Scottish Government and NatureScot. She has drafted loan and security documentation for loans issued through the More Homes Division of the Scottish Government.
Suzanne has spent time on secondment to The City of Edinburgh Council and Historic Environment Scotland.
Suzanne is a Partner in our Real Estate and Infrastructure team, based in Edinburgh. This month she celebrates her 20 year anniversary with us. In this short interview, she reflects on her career and her time at Morton Fraser MacRoberts so far.
Currently, the public sector tends to procure goods and services on a fixed priced basis. As inflation continues to rise and organisations grapple with significantly higher costs than anticipated, there are certain ways procurement processes may need to change to best manage and support suppliers in the changing economy and ensure a competitive procurement process, to secure best value across the life of the contract.
Stepping off the train in Glasgow, I instantly regretted the decision not to bring an umbrella. I had fallen into the East Lothian weather trap… again! But once I arrived at the Movers & Shakers Build to Rent Annual Conference, the dark clouds soon lifted. There was a distinct air of optimism in the room.
